Here’s how to care for your hatbox flowers so they stay fresh and vibrant for as long as possible.
Step 1: No Need to Unbox
Your flowers are already arranged in a water-soaked floral foam (also known as oasis), so there’s no need to remove them or transfer them to a vase. The foam acts like a sponge, delivering water directly to the stems.
Step 2: Check Moisture Daily
Gently press your finger into the foam between the flowers. If it feels dry or just barely damp, it’s time to water.
Use a small-spouted bottle or a jug with a narrow lip to slowly pour water directly into the foam, avoiding the edges of the box.
Add just enough to moisten the foam—about ¼ cup at a time is usually sufficient. Overwatering can cause leaks or damage the box lining.
Step 3: Keep It Cool and Shaded
Place your hatbox in a cool, dry area away from direct sunlight, radiators, or draughts.
Avoid placing it near fruit bowls—ripening fruit releases ethylene gas, which can shorten the life of your flowers.
